Sushi & Champagne: A conversation with Dr. Rudolf Jaenisch

Tuesday December 2nd, 2014 5:30 PM

Dr. Rudolf Jaenisch, a founding member of the Whitehead Institute and Professor of Biology at MIT has made enormous contributions to the understanding of epigenetic regulation of gene expression. Dr. Jaenisch created the first transgenic mice that enabled researchers to study epigenetic control of genomic DNA through the studies of knockout mice and, most recently, patient specific Human pluripotent stem cells and cerebral organoids to study complex human diseases.

We invite Dr. Jaenisch to share his 35+ years of research experience, much of during which the field of Molecular Biology bloomed and expanded. We aim to learn a few lessons from his own life experience, how his own research career unfolded or took turn over the years, the excitement of scientific discovery that still keeps him awake at night, and how he sees the field unfolding in future.
